Oh how I love this time of year. Not because of all the typical things like Pumpkin Lattes and Uggs, those are a given. It’s because I can finally pull out all the cozy bedding and layer my house with warmer jewel tones like mustard yellows, emerald greens, navy blues, and ruby reds.
I love getting out the slow cooker and trying different soup and stew recipes, lighting a million candles, pouring a glass of wine and watching spooky movies on the couch.
Don’t even get me started with cracking the window open and feeling that cool crisp breeze while sleeping….. H E A V E N!!!
I don’t know if you’ve been to Homesense lately… but it’s a freaking DREAM!!!
With fall comes things like pumpkins and mums. Two of my favourite things to decorate with. Although I love a traditional orange pumpkin, I have a soft spot for a good Jarrahdale, aka that pretty blue pumpkin that you are starting to see everywhere.
I discovered them a few years ago and they quickly became a must on my fall decor list.
This year is the first time I have ever cut into one, and I am so glad I did. Not only did it let out the most amazing smell.. kind of a mixture of cucumber and melon, but they are so easy to clean out. Not too many seeds inside and minimal elbow grease needed. Only a few scoops and it was clean.
I had a vision for this pumpkin the minute I saw it. I knew it would look so pretty carved open with a mum inside. It can be used on a porch, as a centrepiece or even given as a gift.
I’m so happy with the way it turned out. It took all of about 15 min to make and only cost me $10!
